Interstate 77 reopens following accident

Interstate 77 has reopened in both directions following an early morning crash Friday, which took out a utility pole leading to wires falling onto the highway.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a one-car crash on I-77 at Arlington Road in the City of Green. It was determined that a 2006 Chevy Equinox went off the side of the I-77 and struck a pole that was supporting power lines. Currently, parts of Arlington Road are without power. Power crews are currently working on restoring power. Both lanes of I-77 at Arlington Road will be closed until further notice.

The driver of the Equinox was identified as a 27-year-old Canton woman. Her dog was a passenger in the vehicle. The woman received minor injuries in the crash and the dog did not receive any injuries.
